Tell us your story.

I returned to school to finish my college degree. After five years I earned my Bachelor of Science/Information Technology degree in Multimedia and Visual Communication this past February 2015. I consider myself to be a Front-End Developer/Designer.

What do you most want other women and young girls to know about being a woman in our digital culture?

It is important that we are not afraid of technology. Lord knows we spend a ton of money to acquire it but women/young girls need to be willing to learn technology from the ground up. I want to teach young women in the community how to code so they may at least understand what’s going on behind that Facebook page.

Pass it on!

I am inspired by every woman I meet who is in technology. I joined DC Web Women and Women Who Code DC so I could stay aware and relevant.

The Women in Tech campaign exists to help redefine what women in technology means in the 21st century. Started independently by a group of professional women who, after many impassioned discussions about women in tech knew we wanted to expand this definition beyond ‘traditional’ technology skills. To us, it includes most every current, emerging or evolving role within an organization. By featuring leaders and emerging leaders across industries who embody this we hope to collectively ‘stand up’, be proud of our place in the digital world and inspire young women or those new to the ‘tech space’ to get involved.
